Dr. David Chaplin and students Sergio Mendoza (Senior Management and Economics major) and Jacob Meyer (Senior Sports Management major) returned from the 49th Annual Conference of the Missouri Valley Economic Association in Memphis, TN (see the article dated 9/29). Dr. Chaplin and Sergio Mendoza presented their paper, “Competitive Balance in Olympic Boxing: 1904-2012,” and Jacob Meyer was chosen to kick-off the entire conference with his work, “Preferential Officiating in Sports.”
Scholars from all over the United States converged in Memphis to present over 200 papers on a wide variety of topics in economics. NNU’s representatives are particularly grateful to Omicron Delta Epsilon, The International Economics Honor Society, for the $500 grant awarded to the Delta Chapter of Idaho to help defray costs for the two students’ participation in the conference.
